A 59-year-old Livingston woman died when a car crossed U.S. Highway 2 in front of the motorcycle on which she was a passenger.
The Flathead County sheriff's office says Lori Armentaro Smith died at the scene of the collision that happened at 5:45 p.m. Sunday. The Montana Highway Patrol says the 58-year-old man who was driving the motorcycle was hospitalized with severe injuries. Both were wearing helmets.
The patrol says the car was stopped at a stop sign and failed to notice the eastbound motorcycle before trying to cross U.S. 2. The motorcycle struck the front passenger side of the car. The 43-year-old man driving the car and a child who was with him were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
