BOZEMAN, Mont. -

A Bozeman man walked away with just a few scrapes after the Gallatin County Sheriff's office says an early morning hike turned into an all night ordeal. A 911 call came in just after midnight from a woman who reported her friend was overdue from a day hike in the Bridger Mountains. The Sheriff's office says the man was trying to hike from Fairy Lake to the M Trailhead.

Gallatin County Search and Rescue and the Summit Air Ambulance crew eventually spotted the man using night vision. The air crew landed in the area of Sacajawea and Naya Nuki peaks. They were able to land to pick up the hiker just before 3:30a.m.

While the hiker only came away with just a few cuts and scrapes, Sheriff Gootkin wants to remind everyone that conditions can change quickly. They recommend traveling with somebody, or notifying people of your specific plans.
