BOZEMAN, Mont. -

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office said they helped a 79-year-old Clarkston man from his home just before 4 p.m. on Thursday.

They said he made the request for help because he had health issues and saw that his home was surrounded by water several feet deep.

In addition to the Sheriff's Office, the Clarkston Fire Department and Search and Rescue responded. They took the man from his home to the roadway on a small inflatable rescue boat.

The Sheriff's Office said the man was taken to Bozeman where the Red Cross provided shelter at a local motel.

This was the only evacuation conducted by the Sheriff's Office due to flooding on Thursday.
