BUTTE, Mont. -

Butte-Silver Bow police traded in their Harley Davidson motorcycles for newer, lighter Yamahas.

Butte police bought the new motorcycles locally at Stacks Motor Sports.

Together the bikes cost police $27,000 and came with radar units, a radio and lights.

Two police officers are trained to use them.

"With our training and our abilities and the compact size of the bike we can fit between cars and get to the crash scene a lot quicker than we would in a patrol car," said Chris Tymofichuk.
