One of American Ninja Warrior's most popular competitors offered pointers to youngsters at a course camp in Hamilton.

Fans know Lance Pekus as "The Ninja Cowboy," on that popular NBC show.

It highlights athletes in an extreme obstacle course competition.

It was a "wow factor" for young fans at Velocity Gymnastics Academy, when "The Cowboy" gave one-on-one instruction.

The 27-year-old Salmon, Idaho athlete is a mentor for aspiring Ninja Warriors all over the country.

"It's amazing how natural kids are on obstacles," said Pekus. "It seems when we get older we almost lose that sense of wanting to hang and jump from things. I just love the enthusiasm the kids have when they see an obstacle and want to complete it.

Pekus has passed the two pre-qualifying rounds in competition on American Ninja Warrior, and advanced to the Mt. Midoriyama finals course in Las Vegas.

That show begins airing Monday on NBC.
