Officials at the Flathead County Landfill want people to stop dumping cats. Volunteers captured 16 kittens and 3 cats. They suspect more than 20 could still be there.Volunteers are using live traps to catch the cats. They have several set around the dump's perimeter. Some of the kittens are only a day old. The Humane Society is working with volunteers and the Flathed Spay and Neuter Tasks Force to catch them."People think we're burnt out or maybe we're a little grouchy. When in fact, we're just worn out from seeing the devastation that takes place when animals are not taken care of, are not spayed and neutered, are not provided the safe environment, the love and care that they need," commented Lori Heatherington with the Humane Society. The Humane Society says there is always an option. Calling animal control, the Humane Society, or the Flathead County Animal Shelter can provide you with ideas and placement opportunities for animals.
