Warm with lowered air quality this weekend

A FIRE WEATHER WARNING or RED FLAG WARNING is posted until 9 pm for the Helena and Gallatin National Forests. This includes the Helena, Townsend, Whitehall, and Bozeman areas.  Winds will be west southwest 10 to 20 mph with some gusts up to 30 and 35 mph.  This will bring a very high fire danger to the area. It should be a breezy afternoon in other areas as well, so the whole region should be on alert for new fire activity in the afternoon.

Air quality will continue to be an issue through the weekend as smoke settles in the valleys at night and gets pulled around by afternoon breezes. Overall air quality is expected to be be at moderate for much of the weekend. Temperatures will return to the 80s and 90s as high pressure settles in. This should also help to keep the smoke around.

Expect mostly 80s on Saturday with more widespread 90s on Sunday. The first part of the week will be hot as a low pressure system off the West Coast begins to send moisture and unstable air in our direction. By Monday afternoon there will be a few isolated thunderstorms in the area with possibly more Tuesday through Thursday of the coming week.
