BIGFORK, Mont. -

The Flathead County Sheriff's Office released the name of a Kalispell woman who walked away from an early Saturday morning crash, only to die later that day.

Investigators say 51 year old Dawn Wickingstad's mom picked her up, but Dawn reportedly refused to go to the doctor. Wickingstad was driven back to her mother's home in Creston, and sheriff's deputies found her body late Saturday afternoon.

Emergency responders say people should always seek a doctor's opinion after any motor vehicle accident.

"As emergency responders one of the things we worry about with patients that don't appear to have any sort of an injury and yet have been in an accident that has a pretty significant mechanism of injury are these unseen injuries," said Flathead County EMS Manager Mary Granger.

The sheriff's department says the cause of her death as well as the accident are still under investigation, but troopers say speed was a factor.
