MISSOULA, Mont. -

A two acre wildfire burning on remote terrain in the Pattee Canyon area, Southeast of Missoula, is 80% contained, according to the Missoula Rural Fire Department.

This fire is located approximately six miles into Pattee Canyon from the interchange with Higgins Avenue.

Crews from Missoula City and Missoula Rural fire departments, along with the DNRC and Lolo Hotshots are on scene, working on a containment line. The location is forcing firefighters to hike in on foot. A helicopter is also assisting.

Smoke is still visible from downtown Missoula.

The fire is burning grass and timber. Fire officials so no structures are immediately threatened, but there are several houses in the area. They hope to have full containment by sunset.

The fire was first reported around 2:15 Saturday afternoon.

No injuries have been reported.
