MISSOULA, Mont. -

For the last few weeks, NBC Montana has been asking people to help solve a "thrill kill." Four deer were shot and left to rot near Alberton.

Investigators now say tips from the public helped them identify two suspects. State officials tell us they've charged two men in the case.

Kolby Leishman from Huson, and Michael Field from Frenchtown face several different charges. If convicted, they could face penalties and lose their hunting and trapping privileges.

The incident happened last month, about 40 miles west of Missoula off Interstate 90 near Fish Creek

Investigators say tips from the public and other evidence helped them solve the case.

Game warden Justin Singleterry told NBC Montana, "Running across the animals before they started to decompose was really vital in collecting evidence and everything else, because we got there probably hours after it happened."
