MISSOULA, Mont. -

People interested in the future of the Maclay Bridge, west of Missoula, are invited to a series of public meetings with the Department of Transportation.

The aging, one lane bridge crosses the Bitterroot River and connects North Avenue and River Pines Road almost three miles west of Reserve Street.

Transportation officials say the meetings are preliminary. They're looking for ideas on what should be happen to the aging bridge, and will look into environmental and safety concerns and ask for input on the bridges? location and size.
