FLATHEAD COUNTY, Mont. -

Girl Scouts are organizing town hall meetings as they fight a plan to more than quadruple their lease payments for Camp Westana. The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation says they have no choice but to increase the camp's lease, but has extended the $5000 lease for one calendar year so the Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming can make a final decision on the camp.

Meetings have been set up for Kalispell and Columbia Falls, and scout activists hope both gatherings will generate a large audience as well as ideas on how to keep the camp open. The Kalispell meeting is on April 30th at the Hampton Inn and Columbia Falls falls on the next day, May 1st, at the Teakettle Community Hall.
