MISSOULA, Mont. -

Senator Jon Tester said at a meeting Wednesday that he supports a Justice Department investigation into the way several Missoula agencies have responded to reported sexual assaults.

The meeting took place at the Missoula County Health Center and dealt with women?s health issues.

Tester was asked what he thought about the federal investigation focusing on how the Missoula Police Department, the University of Montana, and the Missoula County Attorney's office has dealt with the 80 sexual assaults reported in the last three years.

?Safety is very important,? said Tester. "Hopefully the Department of Justice will come in and do a great job, and do it as efficiently and time effective as they possibly can, and come forth with some recommendations."
