KALISPELL, Mont. -

Kalispell Police called off a search for a missing man after Flathead authorities discovered a fatal rollover crash north of Lakeside. Flathead Sheriff Chuck Curry tells NBC Montana the driver was the same person reported missing early Sunday, 41-year old Scott Peiffer of Kalispell.

MHP troopers say the driver was heading southbound on Highway 93, when his jeep crossed into the oncoming lane and launched off the highway and into a cherry orchard. They say he was ejected from his jeep and died at the scene. Curry said the man was not wearing a seat belt, and that the crash most likely happened yesterday morning. MHP says the cause and manner of death is still under investigation.

Friends of Peiffer said he was a man who selflessly gave back to the community. Peiffer spent hours coaching several youth basebal teams in the area, and was even a board member of Kalispell's Peewee Baseball League.
