BOZEMAN, Mont. -

School Board Officials say they have 12 eligible candidates to choose from when it comes to the Bozeman superintendent position.

The application deadline was Wednesday and now the Montana School Board Association is tasked with performing background checks.

From there, trustees will narrow the pool to four or five candidates.

The School Board meets May 2nd to determine who to bring in for interviews.

They'll be interviewing candidates May 15th and 16th and invite the public to meet them and give their feedback.

The board will vote on May 29th.

Officials say the plan is to have someone in place before current Superintendent Kirk Miller leaves in July.

School Board Officials say Bozeman is lucky to have so many great candidates to choose from.

"We have a lot of candidates who are very qualified. We're most fortunate, as a district, to attract the caliber of candidates that we have in this process," says School Board Chair Denise Hayman.
