MISSOULA, Mont. -

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until Sunday evening for the Butte/Blackfoot region. A Winter Storm Warning is also running for the mountain passes of MacDonald, Lost Trail, Big Hole, Monida, Raynolds, and Chief Joseph. Road conditions will turn snowpacked and icy at times this weekend.

More wet weather is on tap for the second half of the weekend. The bullseye for the precipitation sets up over far southwestern Montana. A concoction of rain and snow is likely with minor snow accumulations in the grassy areas. Far northwestern Montana is staring at a mainly dry day. Spots like Libby, Eureka, and Kalispell may even see some sunshine. Coats and jackets are still needed with temperatures below average by mid-March standards.

This prolonged storm system lingers into the beginning of the next work week for Butte and Bozeman. Another moisture driven jet stream sets up by Tuesday for Kalispell and Missoula. This could create several rounds of showers for areas west of the continental divide.
