BUTTE, Mont. -

A health survey from a Missoula doctoral student found Butte residents could be more likely to develop various diseases thanks to mining contaminants.

Community members are asking for more information.

The Butte-Silver Bow Health Department is hosting a series of listening sessions to hear the public's general health concerns and to help the health department determine the focus for its own upcoming study.

"I hope that we will do the proper testing so we know what we are actually up against so at what point do we need to be concerned and what point do we need to take remedial action," Butte resident R. Edward Banderob said.

The next listening session will be held Thursday night at the Butte Archives at 7 p.m.

The health department will present the results on May 31 at the Archives at 7 p.m.
