A once-paralyzed Canadian caribou was released in British Columbia over the weekend, after rehabilitation efforts worked out. The caribou had wandered into Northwest Montana, and after it had was laid still for so long, apparently from tick paralysis, its collar sent out a signal notifying wildlife workers it had died.
FWP staff members were surprised to see its head pop up when they arrived. The caribou was released in the Cranbrook area, near roughly ten other resident caribou. FWP officials say they plan on getting weekly updated from Canadian wildlife workers on how the animal is doing.
