Kalispell residents helped turn old papers back into trees with a recycling drive on Saturday. The Kalispell Street Tree Commission collected old newspapers, magazines and aluminum cans to bring to a recycling center, instead of the landfill.

With that money, the group is going to buy more trees to line city streets. NBC Montana spoke with one woman who?s been on the commission for over 25 years, and she said the event has generated repeat customers.

?They wait for it to come and they save their newspapers, and then they come and bring them here, so we?ve have consistent customers from year to year and this is the twentieth year we?ve had it,? said Bette Albright.

Commission members also want to remind folks to save all their recyclables for their next drive, which will be in the fall.
