BOZEMAN, Mont. -

Museum of the Rockies' Taylor Planetarium is set to get a major face lift.

The facility was built back in 1989 and much of their equipment is original and now outdated.

That's why they're looking to raise $1.5 million to replace it.

Upgrades include new seating, two high definition projectors, digital audio, a complete interior remodel, plus, new planetarium shows.

Representatives with the museum say the upgrades will put Taylor Planetarium on the map.

"We will be able to show anything that the Hayden Planetarium can show in New York, which is kind of the benchmark nationally for planetariums. We'll have all of that capability so, we truly will have a world class offering with our planetarium," says Museum of the Rockies Marketing Director Jean Conover.

Work is set to begin this September. The new planetarium will open spring of 2013.
