KALISPELL, Mont. -

A Kalispell gym is pushing for teens to get off the couch and exercise this summer. The second annual Teen Fit Initiative at The Summit offers free two-month memberships for students. Last year over 460 kids took advantage of the program.

Those who sign up can take advantage of all The Summit facilities, and even attend classes, at no charge. Folks we spoke with say students experience a safe environment where they can meet friends and stay active.

"If you get out here and start playing basketball, you'll do other stuff," said Operations Manager Bob Norwood, "So you'll stay active and we're hoping that that carries through for the rest of their lives so they stay active. And we give them that opportunity."

The 2012 Teen Fit Initiative runs from June 1-September 15th. Teens 13-17 wishing to join must have a parent present to sign up.
