Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribal wildlife officials say an adult male grizzly bear was struck and killed by a vehicle on the Flathead Indian Reservation earlier this month.
Wildlife program manager Dale Becker says the nearly 600-pound bear was killed at about 10:30 p.m. on May 5 on U.S. Highway 93 north of St. Ignatius.
This is the first grizzly bear mortality reported on the Flathead reservation this year.
