A former Billings woman has pleaded guilty for her role in a kickback scheme to get military employees to order office supplies from several Billings businesses at inflated prices

The Associated Press reports 36-year-old Jodi Adkins Birdinground of Thornton, Colo., pleaded guilty Tuesday to wire fraud.

Birdinground told U.S. Magistrate Carolyn Ostby that her boss and co-defendant Ashley Ann Lamere directed her to offer cash and gift cards to military purchasers as inducements to order from her.

Birdinground and Lamere opened an office supply company in 2006. Lamere bought out her interests, but Birdinground continued to work for her. Prosecutors alleged Lamere operated nine companies to skirt military buying limits.

A plea agreement says Birdinground is responsible for losses of between $120,000 and $200,000.
