A weak cold front brought a round of shower and thunderstorms to western Montana Wednesday afternoon. It will move through southwest Montana this evening. A few lingering rain and snow showers are possible overnight, otherwise partly cloudy. A break from the precipitation is expected most of Thursday, except rain will develop by late afternoon in the northwest corner of the state around Kalispell.
A strong surge of moisture will bring widespread rain to western Montana west of the divide Thursday night and Friday, with locally heavy rain north and west of Missoula into the Kalispell area and west into Idaho. Elsewhere, a few showers and thunderstorms are possible both Friday and Saturday. A strong cold front will move through the area Saturday evening. Rain will change to snow, with some accumulations possible by Sunday morning.
