WINTER STORM WATCH Thursday and Friday for southwest Montana, including Bozeman and Butte. 2 to 10 inches of snow are possible in the valleys and plains with 10 to 16 inches in the mountains.
A cold front is moving through western Montana Wednesday evening. It will bring a period of strong winds, with gusts up to 45 mph in some areas. A WIND ADVISORY is posted for the Missoula, Hamilton, Butte, Anaconda, Drummond, Deer Lodge and Salmon areas. Rain and snow showers are possible and even an isolated thunderstorm across southwest Montana around Butte and Bozeman.
A large trough of low pressure will move into the region Thursday and Friday, bringing much colder air into the area with highs only in the upper 30s and 40s.
All areas can expect snow showers Thursday and Friday. However, heavy snow is possible over southwest Montana, which will be closer to the upper level low. This includes Butte and Bozeman.
Improving weather is expected by Easter Sunday and a nice warming trend is expected early next week with highs back to the 50s and 60s.
