HIGH WIND WATCH Wednesday for the Missoula, Butte and Kalispell areas. WSW Winds 25-45 mph/G 60 mph. WINTER STORM WATCH Tuesday and Wednesday for Lookout, Lolo, Lost Trail & Marias Passes and for Yellowstone Park for 5 to 15 inches of snow.

A warm front will usher milder air into the region Tuesday. Prior to that, areas of flurries and light snow will occur with minor accumulations. The valley snow will change to rain with the warmer air on Tuesday and continue into early Wednesday before a cold front changes the rain back to snow. Some valleys will experience down sloping, which is a drying process. This could limit some valley precipitation. Heavy mountain snow will develop west of the divide with over a foot at some pass locations along with white out conditions due to strong winds

The big news weather wise is strong winds. A strong jet stream will be over the region late Tuesday and Wednesday, mixing strong winds to the surface. Some damage to trees and power lines is possible.
