FLOOD WARNING for the Bitterroot River near Missoula, Victor and Darby and for the Yaak River near Troy and the Fisher River near Libby.
WINTER STORM WARNING until 10 pm Friday for West Yellowstone and Targhee, Raynolds, Monida, Chief Joseph and Big Hole Passes in southwest Montana where 3 to 12 inches of snow are possible. A WARNING through Saturday for the Boulder, Lincoln, Townsend and White Sulphur Springs areas along with Homestake, Rogers and MacDonald Passes. 1 to 5 inches in the lower elevations with 6 to 16 inches in the higher terrain.
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for Marias Pass and Essex where 1 to 3 inches of snow are possible.
An upper level storm is spinning over northern Wyoming and south central Montana. It will meander east and then back north through Saturday. Heavy snow is expected along and east of the divide and north of I-90, especially across central and north central Montana tonight, with snow from Bozeman eastward on Saturday. The Bozeman area could see a few more inches of snow tonight and Saturday. Elsewhere, blustery and chilly with a few rain, snow and graupel showers through Saturday in Missoula and Kalispell and snow showers in Butte. Otherwise, partly to mostly cloudy.
Temperatures will remain below normal through the weekend with highs in the 40s and 50s.
