A cold front will move into northwest Montana later today, bringing cooler air to the Kalispell area. In advance of the front, another warm day is expected from Missoula south and east to Butte and Bozeman. Increasing west southwest winds will gust up to 30 mph in some areas by late afternoon. The front will stall across southwest Montana tonight and Thursday. This area will have the best chance of seeing a few showers and storms develop. This includes Butte and Bozeman. Much cooler Thursday with highs only in the 40s around Butte to the 50s elsewhere.

The cool spell will be very temporary. Another ridge of high pressure will build into the region Friday and over the weekend. This will bring sunny, warm days this Mother's Day weekend along with clear and cool nights.
