MISSOULA, Mont. -

Missoula County Public Schools are setting a standard procedure for dealing with concussions on the playfield.

Officials are setting a minimum eight day stepwise progression before a participant has full clearance to return to activities.

Tonight, the district hosted a seminar and panel discussion in how to deal with head injuries.

Casey Fitzsimmons is a former All American Carroll College athlete and NFL player for the Detroit Lions. He talked about his experiences with concussions, "Play smart. You only get one brain. It's not like an A.C.L. or an elbow or a shoulder. You can repair that. Your brain is non-repairable."

Experts say impact on various parts of the body can cause a head or brain injury, and that a person experiencing a concussion may or may not lose consciousness.
