STEVENSVILLE, Mont. -

Crews in Stevensville cleaned up a fuel spill at Mountain West Co-Op downtown Wednesday morning.

Officials say about 50 gallons of unleaded gasoline spilled into the parking lot off Main Street.

The city closed two streets down for much of the day.

"We had a mechanical failure," said Mountain West Co-Op's Will Dukart, "One no lead tank was overflowing another one."

Crews used absorbent pads and sand to clean up the spill.

Stevensville mayor Gene Mim Mack said 95% of the gas was confined to pavement and concrete.

A special environmental cleanup company was called in to remove the rest from soil on site.
