A Billings family is mourning the death of their 8-year-old dog, which had to be euthanized after being badly beaten during a burglary.
The Associated Press reports Randy and Kori Clark are offering a $1,000 reward for information about the June 8 break-in at their house during which their border collie-blue heeler cross Sadie suffered fatal injuries.
Randy Clark says Sadie's diaphragm was split in two and she had a ruptured sternum and liver. She also had head injuries.
Clark believes the burglar entered the house through Sadie's dog door. Their neighbor's house was burglarized earlier on June 8.
Billings Police Lt. Kevin Iffland says officers are investigating, but have no suspects in the break-in.
