The following is by the Montana Western Athletic Department.
University of Montana Western Bulldogs head volleyball coach Lisa Griffiths announced the signing of Brea Mitchell to a Frontier Conference/NAIA Letter of Intent. Mitchell is a middle blocker from Century High School in Pocatello, Idaho.
?I couldn?t be more excited to announce Brea as our final addition to the class of 2012,? Griffiths said. "She comes from great high school and club programs where her coaches have prepared her well for the college game. Brea has played high level volleyball against some of the best athletes around the country and that experience will help her to compete for playing time immediately. Her personality, determination and work-ethic are exactly what we are looking for in athletes to add to our program.?
Mitchell played four years of volleyball and two years of track and field at Century High. She won her volleyball team?s best offensive player award her senior year and was also named to the Idaho All-Area team. Century High won the Idaho state 4A volleyball championship in Mitchell?s junior and senior seasons. Mitchell?s club team also took first place at the Colorado Crossroads tournament.
Mitchell will graduate with honors from Century High this spring. She is the daughter of Debbie and Lou Mitchell and plans to major in business at Montana Western.
?I chose Montana Western because I think the block schedule will help me be more successful as a student,? Mitchell said. ?Montana Western is also located close to home and I think the coach and the program will help me reach my full potential.?
