KALISPELL, Mont. -

Local high school students are training for their debut in the ring Thursday night.

The Glacier Wrestling Association is hosting it's third annual Crosstown Boxing Smoker at the Flathead County Fairgrounds. Students are split into two teams - Glacier and Flathead - who are coached by Burton Boxing and the Flathead Boxing Club.

Proceeds from the match will go towards the Glacier and Flathead High School wrestling teams as well as youth programs in Evergreen and Kalispell. The wrestling association says the athletes really benefit from the money raised each year.

"We wouldn't be able to do a lot of things that we're doing," said Dr. Gregory Pisk, "Our goal is to make successful high school wrestling programs and it seems to be working. We have a lot of championships in the valley between Flathead and Glacier - Glacier was the state champions last year - and it seems like things are paying off."

Doors open at the Fairgrounds' Trade Center at 5:30, with the first match starting an hour later. Tickets are still available, $20 ringside, $10 for adults, and $8 for students.
