Senator Max Baucus is pushing the Highway Bill as a good way to create jobs in an area that sorely needs them.
Baucus met with Kalispell community leaders and business owners to highlight the bill and what it could do for the state. Baucus says the bill won't add to the deficit but will create new jobs in Montana.
"For every one billion we spend on highways in this country translates to about 35,000 jobs. And in Montana given the amount of dollars we receive that's close to 14,000 jobs for Montana."
Baucus continues his job tour Friday with a tourism trade meeting in Whitefish. He's also planning to work at the Tamarack Brewery in Lakeside.
