The potential is high for severe thunderstorms tomorrow!
As for tonight, cloud cover will continue to stream into the region. Some rain showers may dot the skies over northwest Montana. Rainfall totals there should be minimal. Temperatures won't cool off much with very mild overnight lows.
The area with the greatest chance for severe thunderstorms Monday afternoon and Monday night lies over northwest and west-central Montana. This includes Kalispell, Missoula, and Butte.
A very unique and favorable pattern is setting up that could produce damaging winds ranging from 35 to 55 mph. Also, hail between pea size and ping pong ball size is possible. Frequent lightning strikes are anticipated with brief, but heavy downpours. The tornado threat is always low out here, but it is about as elevated as it ever gets.
