MISSOULA, Mont. -

A bald eagle and a "deer with wings" may be to blame for a power outage in East Missoula Wednesday.

Lee Bridges says that shortly after the power went out around 9:00 a.m., she spotted a bald eagle sitting in the top of her tree.

Bridges was taking pictures of the eagle when a Northwestern Energy worker showed up to work on the lines. She says the worker spotted a fawn dangling from the power line.

"I asked him the problem. He pointed up in the power line and he said, 'Well you have a deer with wings on it.' And I looked up there and there was this fawn, a carcass of a fawn, up in the power line," Bridges said.

Bridges suspects that the eagle dropped its prey and couldn't retrieve it.

Northwestern Energy removed the deer from the line and restored power after about a half-hour outage.

The lineman who removed the carcass from the power line said he'd never seen anything like it.
